Kavulová, Aneta
The bachelor thesis deals with the importance of sustainability in the clothing in-dustry from the point of view of companies and consumers. The issue of the cloth-ing industry is still a current topic in our society, it is necessary to look for more sustainable principles and procedures, as well as innovations that can help to solve these problems. To fulfil the goal, qualitative research was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews (n = 8 for companies, n = 13 for consumers), also available secondary data were explored. The obtained data were assessed with use of content analysis and conclusions were drawn. Among the main recommen-dations is that companies devote themselves to educating their customers, as a lack of information has a significant negative impact on consumer behavior.

Chytil, David ; Žákovská, Karolina (advisor) ; Sobotka, Michal (referee)
Subject of this diploma thesis is the accountability of largest private green-house gas emitters, mainly fossil fuel corporations (so called "carbon majors") and in particular their relationship with human rights law. Strategic climate litigation is on a rise and private emitters are increasingly targeted by the litigants. While human rights are widely used in climate change litigation against governments and state authorities, their role in existing and potential climate lawsuits targeted at private parties remains uncertain. The goal of the thesis is to enlighten this topic analysing potential grounds for corporate climate liability and recent case-law. Firstly, impact of corporations on climate system (their "share" of GHG emissions) is presented in contrast to their peripheral role in the international climate governance and law. Climate change as a human rights issue is briefly examined in the second part focusing on human rights abuses of fossil fuel corporations, including "case studies" of human rights impacts of corporations Shell, Total and Texaco/Chevron in countries of the Global South. Third part deals with various sources of potential climate change liability of corporations and role human rights law might play. Business going green: critical discourse analysis of corporate green responsibility
Tušková, Kateřina ; Švantner, Martin (advisor) ; Kobes, Tomáš (referee)
The present thesis introduces an analysis of a part of public corporate communication through which large international companies present a positive image of their brands, technologies, operations and, above all, their values vis-à-vis the issue of environmental protection. It would likely not provoke much dispute, shall it be stated that environmental protection has over the several past decades climbed to the top of the list of the world's priority agenda. Yet whether an ecological crisis is or is not a real threat, or whether the parties involved really do or do not take the proclaimed steps necessary for the improvement of the state of the natural environment, is not a matter of importance here. The important thing is that people (companies) are talking about the environment. In the context of a global ecological threat companies are on one hand pressured into accepting green responsibilities, on the other hand in building their green image they actively adopt certain aspects of green discourse and articulate their own environmental diagnoses and propose possible remedies. Using critical discourse analysis this thesis tries to uncover the ways of construction of corporate green responsibility discourse aiming to answer questions regarding the selection of discourse strategies and use of language,...

Consumers' attitudes to sustainable consumption issue
DALÍKOVÁ, Pavlína
Sustainable consumption represents consumption considerate to the needs of current and future generations. This term is quite usual since 1992 but the question is how much we have involved main principles of the sustainable consumption to our lifestyles. This thesis deals with this issue. The consumer behavior is affected by numerous external and internal factors. Traders respectively their practices are one of the major factors which involve our consumer behavior. The analyzed corporation Tesco Stores ČR, a. s. is good example in context of sustainable development (consumption). As an another step to this sustainable development (consumption) I present a strategy connected with extension of loyalty system Tesco Clubcard by green points. This can support on the one hand the sustainable consumption and on the other hand the promotion of good image of the corporation, expanding the customer base and increasing sales in this category.
